What is the technical term for a Verizon Field Technician(cable guy) & where would one start training?

I am a student in college and am interested in looking into a position as a Field Technician for Verizon. My question is: What degree should I be looking into? & if I don’t need a degree, where would I go(online or otherwise) to seek out training for such a position?
