Don asked:

is this worth even considering to start a career in say networking computers if i have only gotten technical school training and get my A+ cert, security + cert, and a few others. or would it just be a waste of time without a 2-4 year college degree?

The top versus one who has degrees.

actually, no it’s not a waste of time but, the only thing you should be certain is that..are you capable of backing up all those certificates? I mean do you actually have the skills and real world knowledge that employers think you have with those certs? You can get a job as a help desk person, that’s where most IT people start out as. You can get promoted within a few months to Tier 2 help desk support and make more money. From there you can move up the ladder and eventually become Network Admin. There are plenty of people who will hire you for your certs. It’s just that their vision of what they want isn’t exactly what most IT people have (college degree). Experience is always better than a college degree.

But if you want to get into this field you got to start out at the bottom.
