Do Basic Training and Tech School account for part of the 4 years in the Air Force ?

I’m going in regular Air Force, not reserves and is it always a guaranteed 4 years or can it be extended without my say?

    Basic and tech school count as your 4 yrs. But the military can hold u past four years. Its called stop loss. It happened to me and a lot of other people in 2001 and 2002.

    yes basic and tech school are part of your four years, but don’t forget that you are still ‘inactive’ for another four years. so your entire commitment is actually 8 years.

    Basic Training and Tech School are part of your 4 year commitment. It is possible to be involuntarily extended under the “Stop Loss” program.

    Yes, Your contract is for four years active duty, That starts the day you ship to Basic.
    You also have a four year reserve commitment.
    Read your contract, it will state that in the case of National Emergency, you can be involuntarily extended until the end of the Emergency plus six months.
